How safe Is E&N Rail Line?

What Kind Of Dangerous Cargo
Comes Through Nanaimo?

Recently the E&N Railway stopped running the dayliner, saying that the train tracks were simply not safe enough to run a passenger train.

You have to wonder just what kind of risks the railway is taking with continuing to use the tracks to transport freight trains loaded with a variety of products. How dangerous is some of this cargo?

How well equipped are our emergency responders to handle a real emergency if perhaps a rail car filled with dangerous, toxic chemicals were to derail in the middle of our city? Emergency responders down island seemed to be ill-prepared to deal with the fuel truck spill in Goldstream Park some weeks ago.

Should this line be shut down all together unless it is upgraded?
