KFC and Starbucks Close Nanaimo Stores

Terminal Ave KFC Closes
Woodgrove Mall Starbucks Also

Who would ever think that two such iconic businesses would find it necessary to close stores in Nanaimo?

The Starbucks at Woodgrove Mall, which was the very first location they opened in Nanaimo has closed within the past month.

The KFC on Terminal Avenue, which has operated in that location for as long as I can remember also has recently closed.

There was a time that businesses in this sector had much difficulty recruiting reliable staff when jobs were plentiful in Nanaimo. Today, that would hardly be the problem since we have a 16% jobless rate in Nanaimo for the third month running.

This is just more indication, that our city 'leaders' have to wake to the fact that continually raising taxes is simply no longer the way to run this city. People are tightening their belts all over town, except of course at city hall, where they want to blow off another 16 MIllion TAX DOLLARS on a swank new office!

  1. I will not miss this location of KFC. It had horrid service, long lines/waits and 4 times I went there I was told they had "No chicken". I kid you not and know others have had such experiences over a significant amount of time.I long ago refused to go there.
