Nanaimo Aquatic Centre Celebrates Ten Years
Staff is now busy getting ready for the ten year anniversary celebration being held Saturday, June 4th. Everyone is invited to the open house style celebration between 10am-4pm. There are no formal ceremonies planned but lots of activities and events throughout the day. Enjoy the $1.00 retro admission rate all day.
Activities planned include: aqua-fit sessions, lessons, stroke correction, spring board demonstrations, free weight room orientation, training tips, informational displays, a dunk tank, life guard rodeo and more. Cake and refreshments will be served.
It is hard to believe ten years has passed since the facility was built. Over the years the centre has seen visitors from around the world, hosted hundreds of aquatic competitions of all levels and has been the spot in which thousands of people of all ages have learned the important life skill of swimming. The facility has held up very well and is still considered an example of facility excellence by many in the industry. It is still home to the largest wave pool on the island and the very busy Nanaimo Aquatics Training Centre for life guards and instructors across the island.
